Decent health care goals

Health plans

You may have noticed that Decent has changed some things lately. We now offer plans that are ideal for small business owners looking for affordable, comprehensive healthcare coverage for themselves and their employees.

Our goals and beliefs around health care are threefold:

  1. Decent is designing health insurance for the future.
  2. We believe health insurance can and should be affordable.
  3. Decent health care is good for business.

What does that mean? Let’s start from the beginning.

Decent is designing health insurance for the future.

We believe that your healthcare decisions should be made independently of your health insurance coverage. In other words, you and your doctor should be the driving forces behind your healthcare decisions. Decent wants to help support you in that endeavor. We’ve been paying attention. We know that people have grown increasingly unsatisfied with the health plan options available. In fact, the industry claims to have a Net Promotor Score (also known as “NPS”, which is an index ranging from -100 to 100 that looks at how much customers enjoy what they’ve purchased) of 14. Even with that score, the price tag on health insurance has become a huge pain point for everyone — especially individuals and small businesses.

Decent wants to make sure that health insurance of the future will look different. How? For starters, it will be affordable. It will also have free primary care so you can see your doctor either online or in-person at no cost. It will also be free of medical deductibles and have a curated network of providers aimed at providing cost-effective care to members.

Health insurance can and should be affordable.

Small businesses are stuck between a rock and a hard place when it comes to health insurance. Rising costs make it difficult for small businesses to carry health insurance coverage for their employees, even as healthcare coverage becomes increasingly important to have. Unlike large employers who can leverage economies of scale to offer customized, affordable healthcare, small businesses have few options.

Decent is changing that. We’re expanding access to this model so everybody can access the benefits that were previously only available to companies with the money and size to self insure. All of Decent’s plans are Affordable Care Act (ACA)-compliant and built around convenient, free primary care and priced at up to 40% less than market rate.

Decent health care is good for business.

We offer affordable, tax-advantaged health insurance plans that can safeguard the future for small businesses and their employees — allowing businesses to attract and retain talent and protecting employees from exorbitant out-of-pocket medical costs.Half of Americans work for a small business — Decent is here to make sure they have the affordable care options they need to keep the American economy in motion.

So, what else has changed?

When we first launched in 2019, we focused on providing health insurance coverage to the self-employed. We're going to continue to offer incredible policies to our individual members, now with small business options as well!

Decent envisions a world where everyone has the freedom to do the work they want without sacrificing access to affordable and comprehensive health insurance. We are still committed to supporting freelancers and believe our 2021 plans (which we're now quoting) are going to fit their needs even better.

Decent will group small businesses of similar categories, starting with technology. This allows technology companies or companies that service technology companies, the opportunity to purchase health plans up to 40 percent lower than currently available options. Over time, we will offer more categories of small businesses to benefit from these unique cost savings.

What does that mean for you if you’re a small business owner in technology? It means we may have an option for you. If you’re a marketing firm that helps technology companies, a commercial real estate broker with technology clients, a recruiting firm for technology-related roles or even a lawyer that assists technology companies, you can purchase health plans from Decent.
